Dynamical Modeling of Galaxies and Supermassive Black Holes: Axisymmetry in Triaxial Schwarzschild Orbit Superposition Models

چکیده

Abstract We present a detailed analysis of the behavior triaxial Schwarzschild orbit superposition method near axisymmetric limit. Orbit modeling is primary used to determine dynamical masses supermassive black holes ( M BH ) in nearby galaxies; however, prior studies have reported conflicting results when comparing outcome from codes with that code show order achieve (oblate) axisymmetry code, care needs be taken axisymmetrize short-axis tube orbits and exclude both long-axis box library. Using up 12 Gauss–Hermite moments line-of-sight velocity distributions as constraints, we demonstrate effects types on best-fit massive elliptical galaxy NGC 1453 Liepold et al. In addition, verify efficacy our updated mock data set. identify subset slowly precessing quasi-planar for which typical integration times can insufficient fully capture equilibrium orbital systems central holes. Further investigation needed more reliable treatment these orbits.

Supermassive Black Holes in Disk Galaxies

Dynamical searches find central dark objects – candidate supermassive black holes (BHs) – in at least 34 galaxies. The demographics of these objects lead to the following conclusions: (1) BH mass correlates with the luminosity of the bulge component of the host galaxy, albeit with considerable scatter. The median BH mass fraction is 0.15% of the mass of the bulge. The quartiles are 0.09% and 0....

Joint Formation of Supermassive Black Holes and Galaxies

The tight correlation between black hole mass and velocity dispersion of galactic bulges is strong evidence that the formation of galaxies and supermassive black holes are closely linked. I review the modeling of the joint formation of galaxies and their central supermassive black holes in the context of the hierarchical structure formation paradigm. 1.1 Supermassive Black Holes in Galactic Bul...

The Central Structure of Elliptical Galaxies and the Stellar-Dynamical Search for Supermassive Black Holes

Elliptical galaxies are divided into two types: galaxies with steep prooles that show no breaks in slope or that have extra light at small radii compared to a S ersic function t and galaxies that show a break from steep outer prooles to shallow inner prooles. These cuspy cores are important because they are a sign of undiscovered physical processes. Prooles with extra light near the center rese...

Spin orientation of supermassive black holes in active galaxies

Accretion of gas onto a central supermassive black hole is generally accepted to be the source of the emitted energy in active galactic nuclei. The broad emission lines we observe in their optical spectra are probably formed in the wind of an accretion disk at distances of light days to light years from the central black hole. The variable fraction of the emission lines originates at typical di...

The Merger History of Supermassive Black Holes in Galaxies

The ubiquity of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) at the centers of nearby luminous galaxies can arise from the multiple mergers experienced by dark matter halos in hierarchical structure formation models, even if only a small fraction of these galaxies harbor SMBHs at high redshifts. We illustrate this possibility using cosmological Monte Carlo simulations of the merger history of dark matter h...
